생화학적 진단이란?

생화학적 진단(Biochemical diagnosis)은 환자의 혈액, 요, 체액 등 생체 조직에서 검체를 채취하여 생체 내 화학물질의 수치나 성분을 분석하여 질병의 진단을 내리는 검사 방법을 말합니다. 생체 내에서 일어나는 대사과정에서 생성되는 화학물질의 수치나 성분 변화를 통해 병변의 진행상태를 파악하거나 질병의 원인을 파악하는데 활용됩니다. 예를 들어, 당뇨병 환자의 경우 혈당 수치나 인슐린 수치 등을 측정하여 당뇨병의 진행 상태를 파악하고 치료 계획을 수립할 수 있습니다. 생화학적 진단은 단순한 수치 측정부터 DNA 분석, 단백질 분석 등 고급 생물학적 기술을 활용한 다양한 방법으로 이루어지며, 현대 의학에서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있습니다.
